Participants to the first ePrep Workshop (2002)
ePrep offers an open platform for meetings and for exchanges aiming at launching and developing innovative projects in the domain of ICT (information and communication technologies) for education, especially for enhancing international and social access to the "Grandes écoles".
The ePrep non-for-profit initiative has been launched in 2001 by Nathalie Van de Wiele, who was then a teacher in Physics in "Classes préparatoires aux grandes écoles" (CPGEs), and who has been managing all ePrep activities since then.
During its first years, ePrep activities mainly targeted the expansion and the development of CPGEs and similar establishments, in France and abroad. To do so, ePrep undertook watch activities, produces reports and analysis, and organised international workshops.
The year 2006 offered ePrep new opportunities, through its participation to R&D projects supported by the European Commission, the organisation of international thematic seminars every year, and the creation of a steering committee and of a development committee.
This period also saw the launch of the ePrep community of practice grouping members from different institutions: teachers in CPGEs or in similar establishments, researchers in "Grandes écoles" or at the University, representative of public or private organisations).
At the end of 2008, ePrep extended its mission beyond CPGEs, and focused on four main priorities: technology watch, studies and projects, thematic seminars, development of the ePrep Community of Practice and of its activities.
Since the first months of 2010, two projects successfully developed in an exploratory mode by the ePrep Community of Practice (the SILLAGES Platform and the SILLAGES Wiki) have associated Ecole polytechnique, ESSEC and ePrep in their operational development phase.
At the end of 2011, the sillages.info Association has been created, involving Conférence des grandes écoles, Ecole polytechnique, EDHEC, ePrep, ESSEC and UNISCIEL for further developments.
